You maybe remember the Vyatta.
Vyatta was good solution for virtualization system who want to deploy their virtualization system.
but, after being acquired by Brocade, their promise supporting open source community was broken.
and new community rise as VyOS.
as before, VyOS has same CLI interface and good performance on light system.
It support various feature, Routing(Static, OSPF), DHCP, VPN, NAT and so on... , less than 1 vCPU, 1GB vRAM and 2GB vStorage.
recently I deployed VyOS router, and very satisfied It's NAT and L2TP VPN performance!
but still Vyatta's GUI interface was not imported yet.
of course GUI interface is important feature to management and popularity.
but It's not a big disadvantages.
In my case, yesterday I had to RMA the Cisco EX60 video conferencing device.
but touchpad didn't connect because of main device's low version firmware.
as you know, this stupid device doesn't have own default IP address.
and end user's network there had no DHCP server as their security policy.
but, I needed DHCP server to give IP address to EX60.
eventually, I run the VyOS as DHCP server on VMware, and solved the issue.
